Say the Prayer Jim...by Declan Heaney
Before every match Garrymore plays there is a practice which may not be widely-known, i.e., saying the prayer. The custom dates back for about thirty years and it has always been the final part of the dressing room ritual before taking the field. Read more...

Mayo News Club Stars Banquet 2015
The Mayo News Club Stars Banquet 2015 takes place this year on Friday, December 11th in Knockranny House Hotel, Westport.
All the proceeds from this, the 11th Club Stars Banquet (which is being held in association with O’Neill’s & AIB) will be donated to the CF West & Mayo Rape Crisis Centre.
Our own Senior Team Captain Shane Nally has been nominated for a place on the Team of the Year.
Tickets (which cost €60) are now on sale and can be ordered by contacting Cepta at The Mayo News on (098) 55104/ 25311. Or if you are unable to attend, a donation would be greatly appreciated.
The best and brightest Mayo club footballers will be honoured again this year.
The Special Guest will be announced soon and there’ll be no shortage of entertainment and giveaways on the night.
They will also be presenting the Special Achievement, Manager of the Year, Player of the Year, Personality of the Year, Hurling Recognition, and ‘Hall of Fame’ awards on the night.
