Spoils shared in Bangor
Garrymore and Kiltane went head to head in the second round of the senior league Yesterday afternoon. The spoils were shared in a a tough and fiercely contested game which resulted in one red card and two black cards. Kiltane got of to the better start racing into a three point lead before Garrymore started to get a grip of the game. The away side pulled the lead back to one before Kiltane started to pull away again after some poor Garrymore defensive errors. Despite the errors Garrymore were handed a life line when Caolan Crowe came on the end of a Martin Jordan shot to flick the ball into the bottom corner of the goal. The Bangor men tipped two more points over to Garrymore’s one to leave it 0-8 to 1-3 at half time.
The second half was a completely different half with Garrymore playing with a slight wind advantage. Within moments of the restart Garrymore had the lead wiped out. Further points were exchanged between the sides until substitute Michael Connolly came on the end of a flowing Garrymore move to blast the ball past the Kiltane keeper to put Garrymore into a two point lead.
Kiltane kept battling and to their credit were rewarded when a high ball was kicked into the Garrymore box and fisted past the Garrymore goal keeper Morvan Connolly.
Garrymore went on to take the lead late in the game with a free before again Kiltane managed to clinch a draw right before the final whistle with a simple 14 yard free.
