Second league defeat for Seniors
Garrymore seniors suffered a heavy defeat to near neighbors Hollymount/Carramore in the Senior league last weekend. Both teams came into the game joint top of the league along with Castlebar and Ballintubber meaning the game had more at stake as we approach the final few rounds.
In a game that was played in good conditions it was the away side Hollymount/Carramore who commanded the possession stakes from beginning to end.
Garrymore played against the wind in the first half and struggled for long periods to penetrate the Holly/Carra defense. Half time came with Garrymore trailing by 7 points 1-10 to 0-06.
With the breeze at their backs Garrymore worked hard but it was on of those days that nothing seemed to go right for the home side. Basic errors accounted for a high turnover rate and in division 1 football they were duly punished.
Hollymount/Carrmore ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 2-15 to 0-10.
Next up for Garrymore is the Senior Championship v Breaffy on the weekend of the 26/27th September.
