Seniors go top!
After 7 rounds of the Mayo senior league Garrymore seniors find themselves joint top of the league with Castlebar, Ballintubber & Hollymount/Carramore thanks to a 8 point win over Ballina.
Garrymore went into the game on the back of a good run winning their last 5 games in all competitions. The game played in Ballina saturday evening provided another tough and tense affair. Garrymore played against the wind in the first half and trailed at half time against 14 man Ballina 7 points to 3. Garrymore worked very hard in the first half but needless frees gave Ballina the lead.
The second half was much better from Garrymore as they dominated the possession stakes but it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the pressure they put on the Ballina defence was rewarded as they started to pull away.
Goals from Jimmy Killeen, Brendan Cunningham & Myles Fallon proved the crucial scores as Garrymore came away with a 3-11 to 1-09 win.
