Seniors through to the O’Mara Cup Final
Garrymore Seniors go through to the O’Mara Cup final thanks to a five point win over near neighbours Claremorris. The game played in very testing conditions provided an intense and enjoyable game. With no breeze to favor any team Garrymore played into the town end in the first half and led at half time by 5 points 1-8 to 0-5 with the goal coming from Micheal Connolly.
The second half proved difficult for Garrymore to break down the Claremorris defense who pulled extra bodies behind the ball. With the numbers in defense and poor underfoot conditions both teams struggled to get away clean scoring chances resulting in a low scoring second half.
Garrymore came away with a five point win on a scoreline of 1-13 to 0-11. The result means with one game game left Garrymore have now qualified for the final.
The remaining game against Kilmaine will be doubled up with the division 1A league game this Sunday at 1pm.
Section A of the O’Mara cup has finished in a playoff between the three top teams, Hollymount/Carramore, Ballinrobe & The Neale. The three teams finished with 4points which means Hollymount/Carramore play Ballinrobe this Sunday with the winner playing The Neale to see who goes through to the final.
